About Masen’s K9’s
As a Dog Trainer based in Saint Charles, MO, my expertise lies in addressing behavioral issues such as reactivity and aggression in dogs, advanced obedience, and service dog work. My paramount objective is to forge a profound and enduring connection between each dog and their committed owner; with the bond you share with your dog being the cornerstone of my training approach. I believe dog training is an art form, which takes practice, patience, and true understanding to master. I was a different person before I entered this profession, and I am grateful to each dog and client who has shaped me into the person I am today. Every dog I work with becomes a part of me, and I remember every single one.
I got into this industry because I was also once a struggling dog owner, who was lost, and didn’t know where to go for help. It is near impossible to find reliable information these days. Every site you click, or every video you watch, will tell you about a different method on how to approach dog training. That is why I made it my personal mission to become as educated as I possibly can on different methodologies. So, I will never run into a situation where I feel helpless and can’t “fix” my dog’s behavior ever again. Through this process, over the years I learned I enjoy helping people just as much as I enjoy helping dogs. In this industry, I can do both. I understand what it is like to have a dog that makes you feel alone due to their behavior. You’re not alone, and your dog isn’t either. My goal is to help rebuild your family one lesson at a time. Although I enjoy working with all cases, my heart is in fearful dogs, and complex cases that other trainers won’t get close to. I want every dog owner of a complex dog to know, your dog’s aggression/reactivity doesn’t have to be a life sentence. Allow me to help you through every challenging moment and reveal who your dog truly is.
I am currently based in Saint Charles, but I frequently take on clients as far as Illinois and offer virtual training to those beyond that. I have successfully helped owners and their dogs as far as Arizona. My experience with dogs goes as far back as the year 2009, as a small child receiving their first “problem” dog. I was that kid walking around the block selling dog walking services for $5. As far as my professional experience, I started working my first dog job in a boarding facility at 16. After I graduated high school, I immediately attended a school for Professional Dog Trainers. I lived there for 6 months, learning how to apply different theories in real life training scenarios. After graduating from that program, I opened Masen’s K9’s, and attended another mentorship under a more established trainer in the area for 6 months. I am currently enrolled in another program that dives into the neuroscience of dog training, furthering my expertise. Learning never ends in this field.
All of my work, every single dog I rehabilitate, I dedicate to Harley and Helios. My wild children, sour patch kids. I wouldn’t be the dog trainer I am today without Harley’s spirit pushing me to be more, and Helios needing a strong leader in his life. These two dogs are by far the most difficult but rewarding adventures I have ever taken. Harley was a sensitive but spicy dog, who took no BS, and left her mark on every person she interacted with. She was a momma’s girl through and through, and would easily choose me over anything. Helios is the most interesting dog I have ever met. He is strong, opinionated, and given the nickname “Hell Raiser” in dog school for a reason. Not a day has gone by where he has not tested my patience, sanity, and dog training ability. Through it all, he is my baby, and I love him dearly. I knew the moment I brought him home I was in for a rude awakening, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Helios has that “I’m a force to be reckoned with” attitude. He demands respect from those that handle him. He is not a beginner friendly dog. He will laugh in your face if you try to force him to do something he does not want to do. This is why I am so grateful to be his mom. He has taught me how to be the most patient, forgiving version of myself. Both qualities necessary to being an amazing dog trainer.
Harley and I.
